           As on
31 March 2004, BRO was constructing / developing 553 General Staff (GS) roads, covering 20,663.50 km.   These comprise 11,713 km of roads in the northern and western sectors and 8,950.50 km in the north-eastern sector.

             In 2003-04, the BRO completed 941 km of equivalent Class-9 formation cutting, 1727 km of equivalent C1-9 surfacing, 2029 km of equivalent Class-9 re-surfacing and 1051 meters of permanent bridge construction, both steel and pre-stressed concrete.  The Organization is currently engaged in the construction of 140 major permanent bridges, mainly in the border states.

Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB) Roads

Under Phase-I of the Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB) road programme, the entire fencing of 198 km in Meghalaya as also the  work on 846 km of roads in the three states of Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram has been completed.
